Many of the shows in the fall line-up debuted last night, including the season premieres of Dancing with the Stars (DWTS), How I Met Your Mother (HMYM), Two and a Half Men (2Men), and the series premiere of Two Broke Girls.
In the premiere episode of DWTS, we saw for the first time the rhythmic talents of the competitors who included Hope Solo, Ron Artest, Chaz Bono, David Arquette, Nancy Grace, Ricki Lake, Rob Kardashian, Elisabetta Canalis, Carson Kressley, J.R. Martinez, Kristen Cavalari, and Chynna Phillips.
On the first show of competition, the dancers stayed in the categories of the Viennese Waltz and the Cha Cha. Starting off with the top scores were J.R. Martinez and Chynna Phillips who tied with 22. Hope Solo came in 2nd with a 21 and Ricki Lake in 3rd with a score of 20. Meta Worldpiece, who is better known as Ron Artest brought up the rear with a 14.
Week 2 will include the Jive and the Quickstep.
Not too much excitement occurred on HMYM. I won’t spoil the episode by giving anything away, but I will say that all of the characters return for the 7th season of the comedy, picking up with business as usual in New York.
The new series Two Broke Girls was the wild card in last nights line up. I think the whole bit of bringing these two ladies from opposite worlds together in this common waitressing job will offer a lot of comedic situations for the show. I’m looking forward to next week’s episode now that I’ve gotten to know the characters a little better.
What everyone has been waiting for is the transition from Charlie Sheen to Ashton Kutcher in the new season of 2Men. Producer’s already introduced us to Kutcher’s character and how they would effectively and literally kill off Charlie.
The episode began at Charlie’s funeral and later at his home, a suicidal Walden Schmidt, played by Kutcher shows up soaking wet on the balcony after he’s unsuccessfully thrown himself into the ocean.
Most of the episode was spent getting to know who Walden is and I’m still curious to see how his character will be integrated into the established relationships of the show.
Tonight, the season premieres of Glee, and Raising Hope will air along with the series premiere of New Girl with Zooey Deschanel.
I’m looking forward to my crime shows Criminal Minds and Law & Order: SVU when their seasons start on Wednesday night.
